Support University Museum and Historic Houses

The University of Mississippi Museum and Historic Houses is part of the epicenter of enriching cultural opportunities for the campus, local and regional communities. The University Museum offers exceptional collections, from Greek and Roman antiquities and Southern folk art to 19th-century scientific instruments, as well as exhibitions, programming and activities for all ages.

Today, you can help ensure that the University Museum continues to build resources to offer high-quality, enriching experiences to students, community members and visitors year after year.

Reasons for supporting the University Museum and Historic Homes include:

  • The Museum houses the largest Greek and Roman antiquities in the Southeast. Gifts to the Museum help preserve these unique and storied artifacts.
  • EDsmart has named the University Museum to its list of “51 Most Astounding Museums,” marking the fourth time in five years the museum has been named to an esteemed ranking of national academic museums.
  • New exhibitions come to the Museum, giving the community the opportunity to see remarkable artwork. Currently, the award-winning work of realist painter Laurin McCracken is on exhibit, as well as the collection of celebrated bird illustrator and author David Allen Sibley.
  • The Museum oversees William Faulkner’s Rowan Oak, one of the country’s most famous literary landmarks and a National Historic Landmark, and the Walton-Young House, an example of a Victorian-era home and a Mississippi Historic Landmark.
  • Since 2013, the Museum has had a “free admission policy” to eliminate any access barriers on the basis of income.
  • Fun-filled programming brings children and parents together for quality time. In addition, patrons enjoy art classes, after-school educational initiatives, Family Activity Days and more.
  • Museum summer camps focus on creative learning and educational experiences, while allowing children to explore their artistic skills and broaden their aesthetic worlds.

Giving Day is the perfect time to plant a seed and watch it grow! Help the University of Mississippi Museum and Historic Homes grow as we dream bigger, work harder and give more. This is an all-hands-on-deck effort.
