Division of Diversity and Community Engagement
Together, we can create equitable opportunities for all at UM

This Giving Day, you can invest in a more equitable and engaged university, community and world.

The Division of Diversity and Community Engagement (DCE) supports the mission of the University of Mississippi by transforming people, institutions and communities through engagement that fosters belonging, enriches learning and development, enhances research and creates equitable opportunities for all.

In January 2021, the university unveiled the steps to achieve the mission of DCE. In “Pathways to Equity: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Institutional Strategic Plan,” the university committed to implement initiatives that advance the following overarching goals over the next five years:

    Advance institutional capacity for equity

Cultivate a diverse and equitable community

    Foster an inclusive campus climate

By taking this responsibility seriously and plotting a principled and measurable path forward, the University of Mississippi can play a role in setting an example for the nation and the world – and all of our stakeholders have a role to play, whether through engaging on campus or offering financial support.

Students have taken the lead to achieve these goals. The senior class of 2021 has partnered with the Center for Inclusion and Cross Cultural Engagement within DCE to contribute to UM’s Inclusive Excellence Retention Fund as its senior class gift. This fund will provide grants to students in need who actively promote diversity, inclusion and respect across all of our campuses.

The Class of 2021 has already raised more than $20,000 for the Inclusive Excellence Retention Fund. You can designate your Giving Day contribution to DCE through the senior class’ initiative, which managed to achieve this groundbreaking total in the middle of a pandemic that disrupted their last two years at UM.

The University of Mississippi is a place where people can unite to celebrate our similarities and our differences. On Giving Day, we prove that the University of Mississippi family is better together. Let’s all work as one to support the initiatives of the Division of Diversity and Community Engagement. Together, WE are Ole Miss.

Please celebrate Giving Day by making a gift! Thank you!
